1. Take your dog for a walk.
Dogs love walks and to go outside, so what better way to celebrate by giving them a nice long walk? They’ll also probably love a game or two of fetch or jogging. The best cure for a dog’s spirit is to give them plenty of exercise and then let them take a long nap after. Ah, paradise.
2. Make an appointment for a checkup
Get your cat taken care of by a vet and see if they are doing fine. An annual checkup is the best way to celebrate this holiday– be sure your pup is healthy!
3. Give a dog their forever home.
There are plenty of puppies out there just waiting for a home to call their own. Adopt one and they will be forever grateful and give you all of their love.
4. Volunteer at a shelter.
Local shelters can always use an extra set of hands. Great if you love dogs but are hesitant to adopt one forever due to your lifestyle or living situation.
5. Get your dog some treats.
Buy them or bake them at home; either way, the way to your dog’s heart is through their stomach. And also fetch and petting.
6. Take them to a dog park.
Celebrate the holiday with other dogs and dog owners! Let him or her frolic in the sun with other puppies and celebrate this day in style!
7. Teach your dog to be a service dog.
Getting your dog certified as a service dog means that you can take them with you wherever you go. It’s a fun way to spend time with your dog but also give them a higher status. If you have anxiety or other afflictions, you may qualify to have your dog be a service dog.
8. Buy them something new.
Treats, dog beds, you name it: a new toy or item for your dog will make them bark for joy!
9. Host a party for dogs.
Dogs love to socialize and eat yummy treats, so why not host a party for dogs and really go for it? It’s a great excuse to get together with friends, too.
